ABOUT
The Workforce Nutrition Alliance
Good nutrition is a key driver for both healthy lives and healthy business. Yet worldwide, one in three people suffer from malnutrition, impacting individuals, businesses and economies alike.
The Workforce Nutrition Alliance was launched in October 2019 by the Consumer Goods Forum (CGF) and the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) to help employers ensure their employees have access to and knowledge about healthy nutrition, breastfeeding support and nutrition-focused health checks. The Workforce Nutrition Alliance’s aim is to support employers to adopt and expand healthier workforce nutrition programmes. We are proud to have reached 6 million workers through advocacy and technical support, and we are working towards 10 million by 2030.
We make this impact by focusing on three areas of work.
Advocate
We advocate for the benefits of workforce nutrition programmes to improve the livelihoods of millions of people worldwide.
Support
We support organisations in assessing their workforce nutrition programme, developing an enhancement plan, and implementing their new programme.
Monitor
We enable monitoring progress in creating successful workforce nutrition programmes that support global nutrition goals.

Conveners
The Workforce Nutrition Alliance is convened by The Consumer Goods Forum (CGF) and the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN). The CGF bring their expertise in bringing together retailers and manufacturers that collectively have a reach of 10 million direct employees and indirectly an estimated 90 million workers, while GAIN contributes extensive technical know-how and experience in implementing workforce nutrition programmes across various settings.

Partners
The Workforce Nutrition Alliance connects with a diverse range of partners from the private sector, civil society, government, and knowledge institutes. Together, we work towards improving the nutrition of workers and their communities. Partners strengthen the Alliance by bringing technical expertise on nutrition themes, leveraging member platforms, creating benchmarking mechanisms, and by co-developing our offering for companies willing to invest in nutrition.
Four themes for enhancing workforce nutrition
We have identified four pillars to excellence in workforce nutrition. All our materials use these pillars as their foundation.

Healthy food at work
Increase access to healthy and safe foods at work by improving meals and snacks or by working with local vendors.

Nutrition education
Support behavior change towards healthier eating habits and lifestyles through increased knowledge on good nutrition.

Nutrition health checks
Provide periodic meetings with health professionals for assessments and guidance for better health.

Breastfeeding support
Create breastfeeding-friendly workplaces and policies that support parental and child health and well-being.
